Fatigue, and not hunger, is that the predominating symptom

Since the insulin gets to the liver through the portal vein within the oral test, we have a tendency to feel that it a lot of closely approximates physiological conditions. It is not too important, however, that test is used, provided the investigator confines himself to one procedure that will offer him results from that he will draw comparisons. The three-hour intravenous test offers concerning the same results as the slower oral test, if we have a tendency to compare proportionate fractions of the test period. Dr. Portis tested nine hundred and twenty-nine patients. Their blood sugar levels were determined within the fasting state and then one-0.5, one, two, and three hours when 50 grams of glucose solution were injected. “In not one of these nine hundred and twenty-nine patients did the third-hour level reach the original fasting level. A product of our patented aloe stabilization process, Aloe Vera Gel is favored by those trying to take care of a healthy digestive system and a natural energy level. In the one hundred and fifty-seven persons of the fatigue group, as distinct from the seven hundred and seventy-two having different than fatigue symptoms, the reading for the primary thirty minutes was so low that the curves were ‘flat’ in comparison with the curves of both traditional persons and persons without fatigue as predominating symptoms.” These fatigue patients differ from different hyperinsulinism patients both in their symptoms and within the greater “flatness” of the curves derived from their Glucose Tolerance Tests.

Fatigue, and not hunger, is the predominating symptom. Though some of the fatigue patients also had weakness, tremulousness, sweating, vertigo, and lightheadedness as previously noted, solely a terribly few had apprehension. One, a physician, had developed phobias. A twenty-year-old boy who had very cheap fasting blood sugar level, the “flattest” curve, and the lowest third-hour reading—all below sixty mg. per cent (anything below 70 mg. is subnormal)—exhibited extreme shyness, may not concentrate, and showed definite schizoid tendencies. (Statistics indicate that low blood sugar is characteristic of schizophrenia.) Dr. Portis believes that this greater “flatness” of the fatigue curves is because of the stimulus of the correct vagus nerve affecting the insulin secretion of the islands of Langerhans to such an extent that the usual initial rise in blood sugar is checked. With this in mind, the following test was created with fifteen of the primary fifty-five fatigue patients.

”A sample of the fasting blood was taken. A product of our patented aloe stabilization method, Aloe Vera Gel is favored by those trying to keep up a healthy digestive system and a natural energy level. The patient was then given one/50 grain [1.three mg.] of atropine sulfate hypodermically. After a 0.5 hour for adequate pharmacologic action of the drug, another blood sample was withdrawn. Immediately thereafter 50 per cent dextrose was injected as within the previous test, that had given ‘flat’ curves, and blood samples were withdrawn at the usual intervals. In these fifteen atropinized patients, the thirty-minute blood sugar level resembled that of traditional persons. As a result of of the uniformity of ends up in this group, I felt that there was no need to subject a massive group to the present test.”
